Originating from an apricot-like tropical fruit whose ripe split reveals a red aril (mace), this spice delivers precision and complexity in every pinch.
Other Details

The Myristica fragrans tree produces both nutmeg and mace from the same fruit. The trees begin bearing fruit after about 7-9 years and can continue for decades. For powder production, the dried nutmeg seeds are ground. Due to its high oil content, whole nutmegs retain their flavor much longer than pre-ground powder, which loses potency quickly. It is therefore recommended to grate whole nutmegs fresh for the most vibrant aroma and taste.
